Counseling Support
We want to help you and your children navigate the emotional toll of domestic violence and sexual assault.
The Abbie collaborates with local therapists who specialize in all forms of trauma, grief, and loss, providing unique expertise in the implications and additional complexities that surviving domestic or sexual violence can add to someone’s mental health needs. We are here to help all survivors access the mental health care you need and deserve.

Our counseling:
INDIVIDUAL COUNSELING
We can connect you with therapists who specialize in domestic and sexual violence issues. People who are uninsured or lack the ability to afford counseling can receive up to 10 free sessions sponsored by the Abbie, if they have been impacted by domestic or sexual violence. Individual counseling is extremely beneficial (and can be vital) for recovery from violent and traumatic experiences.
WEEKLY SUPPORT GROUP
Our weekly Support Group for victims & survivors of domestic and sexual violence is facilitated by a trained professional and focuses on education, healing, and empowerment. Participants in Support Group report feeling a sense of encouragement and camaraderie that help them feel less alone in their journey. Group meets on Tuesday nights at 6:00pm, with a family-style meal served at 5:30pm. (And on Zoom during the pandemic, of course.)
CHILDREN'S PROGRAM
Our Children’s Program meets at the same time as Support Group and provides safe and loving child care for children while their parent attends group. With a high adult to child ratio and activities that focus on healthy communication, our Children's Program advocates are trained to care for children who have experienced trauma.
