Our volunteers are the magic ingredient of this organization, helping us to fill the gaps and ensure survivors get the care they need.

Read below for more information about what help is needed. To join our team, start by filling out the volunteer application.

Our most pressing needs are the Helpline on nights and weekends, and Kids Group on Tuesdays.
AVAILABLE POSITIONS

HELPLINE ADVOCATE 
One weekly 12 hr shift and one monthly meeting
 
The most vital volunteer position. Helpline advocates are trained, independent volunteers offer information and support to survivors who call our Helpline, and are supported by staff.

EMPOWERMENT EMPRESS
1 hr every 2-3 weeks

This volunteer has a knack for organization and keeps our supply rooms clean and organized. This volunteer also works closely with staff to create a safe and welcoming environment in the shelter.

FILLED POSITIONS

FINANCE VOLUNTEER
1-2 hours weekly

Keeping our finances in order allows our work to continue. This volunteer works closely with staff to track donations and update the donor database. Bookkeeping experience preferred.

DONATION SUPPORT
1-2 hrs weekly

This volunteer will use their personal and reliable transportation to pick up, sort, and deliver our donations to the appropriate locations within Kalispell.

KIDS GROUP AIDE
2-3 hrs on Tuesdays

Kids Group is free childcare during our weekly support group for survivors. If your love for children keeps you grounded, consider investing in Kids Group.

RESPITE CHILDCARE
As needed

Whether it’s running to court, looking for an apartment or job, or keeping up with doctor appointments, survivors have their hands full as they keep themselves and their children safe. These volunteers give parents the chance to take a break so they can attend other things.

GARDEN GODDESS
1-2 hrs weekly in summer

This volunteer helps with yardwork. Pulling weeds and watering indoor plants are the tip of the iceberg, but this volunteer produces beauty appreciated daily by everyone at the shelter.

DATA ENTRY
1-3 hrs per week

This task-oriented volunteer provides accurate record keeping for the organization, being mindful of monthly and quarterly deadlines.

EXPECTATIONS FOR VOLUNTEERS
  • Maintain confidentiality

  • Complete a background check

  • Complete trainings

  • Collect data

  • Attend volunteer meetings

  • Not actively receiving Abbie services
